I am a clinical psychologist in Chapel Hill, NC, specializing in the treatment of OCD and anxiety-related disorders. With nearly 30 years of experience, I am internationally recognized as a leading expert in both the treatment and research of these conditions. My career is devoted to providing effective, compassionate care to people of all backgrounds and life experiences, helping them overcome anxiety and lead more fulfilling lives.
In addition to my private practice, I am a Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, where I lead the Clinical Psychology PhD Training Program, conduct research on OCD and anxiety disorders, and train future clinicians.
I’ve authored self-help books, professional guides, and over 300 scientific articles to make evidence-based treatments accessible. I also provide workshops and training for clinicians worldwide.

My contributions to the field of OCD, anxiety disorders, and clinical psychology have been recognized by awards from the National Institute of Mental Health, American Psychological Association, International OCD Foundation, and the Mayo Clinic Department of Psychiatry and Psychology. I am a Fellow and Past President of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) for 2014-2015, Founding Editor of the Journal of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders, and a member of the Editorial Boards of several other scientific journals. I am also a member of the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Foundation Clinical and Scientific Advisory Board.
