About Me
I am a clinical psychologist based in Chapel Hill, NC, specializing in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety-related disorders. For nearly 30 years, I have helped individuals overcome anxiety using evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD.
My work focuses not only on reducing symptoms, but on helping people change their relationship with anxiety so they can live more freely and fully. To this end, I incorporate acceptance-based (ACT) and cognitive approaches tailored to each individual. I also strive to create a welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds, cultures, identities, and life experiences.
In addition to my clinical practice, I am a Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I direct the Clinical Psychology PhD Program. My academic work centers on advancing the understanding and treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders, as well as training the next generation of clinical psychologists.
I have authored self-help books, professional guides, and more than 300 scientific publications on OCD and anxiety. I also provide workshops and professional training for clinicians nationally and internationally.
